collin mchugh, astros await arbitration ruling


a three-person panel in st. petersburg, fla. on friday heard the astros' salary arbitration case with starting pitcher collin mchugh.mchugh, a first-time arbitration-eligible player, asked for a $3.85- million salary for this season. the team proposed $3.35 million.according to the ociated press, a ruling won't be issued until the completion of all cases involving first-time arbitration eligible starting pitchers. jake odorizzi of the rays and the cardinals' michael wacha have hearings scheduled for next week.the panel can choose only one of the side's proposed figures, not a number in the middle. the astros and mchugh had up until friday's hearing to settle and avoid arbitration.mchugh, 29, had a 4.34 era in 33 starts last season but has a 3.71 era in 90 career starts with the astros. the
